Land Surveying Career Pathways
There are several pathways you can explore on your journey to becoming a successful land surveyor. Whether you’re just starting out or are looking to advance your career, you can explore professional qualifications and training programs such as:
- Certificate IV in Surveying (12 months full time)
- Diploma of Surveying (2 years full time)
- Bachelor in Surveying (4 years full time)
- Masters of Surveying (1.5 years full time)
- Professional Training Agreement (2 years full time)
Qualified Surveyor, ACT
A Qualified Surveyor is a person who may perform a range of surveys including prepare & certifying related plans. These surveys and plans may include Boundary surveys under the General Supervision of a Registered/Licensed Surveyor, Volumetric and Work as Executed Surveys, along with Datum Ground Level (DGL) Surveys pursuant to Surveyor-General Guideline No. 15 requirements.
A person who wishes to be recognised as a Qualified Surveyor, in the ACT, must have the appropriate combination of a recognised Tertiary /TAFE qualifications and the corresponding minimum approved practical experience period comprised of 0-5 years.
Criteria for certification is defined by the Office of the Surveyor General’s publication “Guideline No.12 – Qualified Surveyors.”
